Clinic News

Thank you to all the patients who attended to the clinic when the clinic had a recent power outage. We appreciated your patience as we worked through that process on the day to remain open.

Patient Survey

Thank you to all the patients who completed the clinics recent patient survey – your feedback is appreciated. It was pleasing to hear so much positive feedback about the clinic, staff and the doctors. 93% of respondents provided a score of 8 and above that they would recommend the clinic to family and friends. Some of the identified areas for improvement included:

  • Being able to see my doctor of choice – Your doctor appreciates this can be challenging at times especially if your doctor has recently been on leave and you must wait for an appointment. The clinic continues to work with individual doctors to be able to make appointments available on the schedules daily. For any urgent matters please speak to the reception team who will liaise with your doctor or the clinic nurses.
  • Waiting times – Reception staff endeavour to let patients know if doctors waiting times increase and we will continue to encourage patients to make longer appointment times if needed. Over the past 12 months the average waiting time was 5.1 minutes for patients with an average of 18 minutes per consultation. The clinic will continue to alter doctors’ appointment schedules and contract patients to let them know if appointment times change due to emergencies etc. The clinic encourages patients to ask on their arrival for their appointment if their doctor is running on time.
  • Feedback around waiting times appeared to be seeing their doctor of choice when they wanted an appointment. Some doctors have been taking longer leave over recent months and this has increased the waiting time for an appointment. We know you will appreciate that doctors do need to take leave and this can impact on the availability of doctors on some days as well as the wait time for an appointment. Doctors leave is advertised each month in the patient newsletter.
  • Waiting time on hold- The clinic will continue to work on improving our phone on hold waiting times. Certain times of the day result in a huge influx of patient calls and we endeavour to answer these as quickly as possible.
  • Appointments – Children will be seen by doctors on the day if they are unwell and the doctors will schedule in their patients for urgent medical conditions as required. Urgent medical requests will be triaged by the clinic nurse or your doctor. We encourage patients to book an appointment in advance if to renew their scripts run out or referrals.
  • Doctors consulting times are available via the website or Hotdocs on line appointment system. Doctors manage their own schedules and will take time off for leave or if they are unwell. Cancelled appointments are filled when these become available.
  • Car Parking – The clinic appreciates there is limited car parking at the front of the clinic and there is no further room to expand this parking. However, we do encourage patients to park in the ample street and general car parking which is located around the clinic.
  • Patient Feedback – We are working on improving your experience at the clinic with the recent completion of painting in the main areas and front entrance, as well as pathology rooms being updated and the general patient toilet. The installation of new stone benches and cupboards in the treatment and consulting rooms as well as art work on the walls has improved these areas.

We will look at improving the experience in the waiting rooms in the future. The COVID pandemic resulted in a change in furniture to meet infection control requirements however the clinic will look at ways to improve these areas further.

The flooring in the reception area will need to be replaced however this might result in the closure of the clinic for several days and will impact on the clinics ability to provide medical care during this time so this is currently being investigated and we will inform you when this goes ahead.

It is November Month

Movember is an annual event where men grow moustaches during November to raise awareness and funds for men’s health. The name is a portmanteau of the Australian-English word for moustache, “mo”, and Movember funds research and support programs for men’s health issues, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. The charity also aims to encourage men to be more open about their health and stay socially connected.
