Phase 1b of the COVID vaccination roll out commences from 22 March 2021. Mornington Medical Group is pleased to report we are part of the 1st week of the vaccine roll out in general practices. Limited numbers of vaccines will be available in the first few weeks pending stock availability from the government. We encourage you all to go the the Vaccine Eligibility Checker to see if you are eligible for this roll out – https://covid-vaccine.healthdirect.gov.au/eligibility.
Who is Eligible?
Vaccines for everyone in Australia
COVID-19 vaccines will be free for everyone living in Australia. It is voluntary to have the COVID 19 vaccine. You will not need a prescription from a GP to get vaccinated. You will need to ensure you have a current Medicare card and your details are correct. If you do not have a current Medicare card you will need to contact the state-run vaccination centres to organise for your vaccination. A patient fact sheet with information from the Australian Government about preparing for your vaccination is available – Preparing for COVID-19 Vaccination.
Patients will be required to complete a consent form on the day of the vaccination. As bookings become available these will be highlighted on our website and via Facebook and SMS messaging.
Our team is working hard to ensure we are able to provide the COVID vaccine to our local community in a safe environment. As we have COVID vaccines available we will inform eligible patients of the availability of these. Patients MUST book into designated COVID vaccine clinics only as these vaccines WILL NOT be provided in standard consultations due to the vaccine coming in multi-dose vials and all the vial must be used within a short period of time.
Continue to protect yourself and your family against COVID-19
Whether you are vaccinated or not, there are things you can do to protect yourself and others from COVID-19. You must:
- practise good hygiene
- practise physical distancing
- follow the limits for public gatherings
- understand how to isolate if you need to.
